Participants: Major John Sedgwick with almost 500 men against a small Kiowa war party.

After spending several months looking for the Kiowas and not seeing a single one, they got word there were some north of Bent's Old Fort.  They went north to Big Sandy Creek and on their way back they trapped the Indians and in a running fight along Kiowa Creek two Indians and no troops were killed.
