Participants: Lieutenant Samuel H Loder with men from the 3rd and 7th Infantry against a Lakota raiding party.

The mounted Infantry were looking for Lakotas who were raiding stock on along the Musselshell River and caught the raiders near Careless Creek.  2soilders were killed along with 8 Lakotas.
