Participants: Lt. John L Grattan with 30 men and 2 artillery pieces against a Sioux Camp.
Grattan went to arrest an Indian who shot an old cow belonging to a Mormon emigrant. A fight erupted and about half the soldiers were killed on the spot. The other half fought their way out of the camp but were killed. 1 Indian and 31 soldiers were killed.
