Participants: The 7th Iowa Cavalry under Capt. Nicholas O'Brien were attack by about 1,000 Sioux and Cheyenne warriors.

Capt. Nicholas O'Brien with 10 soldiers and a howitzer blasted their way through about 1,000 Sioux and Cheyenne warriors that were ransacking Julesburg and made it to the safety of the fort.
