Established by the American Fur Company in 1832 about six miles upstream from the mouth of the Marias River on the Missouri River. It was a 1,420 square foot quadrangle with two bastons and several cannons. The fort was later referred to as Fort Brule (burned fort) because it was burned by the company as it was being abandoned.
