Established in 1841 as a competing post to Fort Laramie and located across the Platte river.  It was sold by Lancaster Lupton in 1842 to Sybille, Adams and Co. and they sold it to Pratte, Cabanne and Co in 1845 who sold it to the American Fur Company in 1847.
