Participants: Colonel Cole fought Chief Roman Nose and 400 to 500 of his Cheyennes and Sioux
Somewhere along the Powder River, below the mouth of the Little Powder River, Cole's forces were attack by a party of Cheyenne Warriors. The troops turned the tide with their cannons and the Indians soon gave up and went to hunt buffalo on the Little Missouri. The Indians lost one old man who had been sitting behind a hill one half mile away and a shell dropped on him.
