Participants: Captain Emory Cliff with 40 mounted Infantry and 15 ranchers caught nine Blackfeet warriors.
Cliff caught up to the Blackfeet on the North Fort of Sixteen Mile Creek and they went up a rough mountain. Cliff divided his command and surrounded them on the top of the peak. Soon the trapped Indians began their death song as the troops closed in. At dusk they charged the Indians to finish them off. One soldier and nine Indians were killed in the battle.
